University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine
Dr. Shim is a longtime resident of New York City, having completed the General Practice Residency Program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, where he focused on treating medically compromised patients for their dental needs. He previously earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and his Bachelor’s of Science (BS) at the University of California, Irvine.
As a late immigrant from South Korea, Dr. Shim experienced a wide range of socioeconomic differences throughout his life, which were closely tied to difficulties in accessing medical and dental service when needed. Going through such challenges has inspired him to pursue dentistry as a career and aid disadvantaged members of the community. He has previously volunteered in medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, and plans to continue to actively provide his service to those in need.
Dr. Shim has comprehensive training and broad experience in all phases of general dentistry, especially dental extractions, endodontics (root canal treatment), dental implant restorations, fixed/removable prosthesis, and periodontal therapy. He regularly attends advanced training and continues his education in general/implant dentistry to provide outstanding dental care with the latest dental technologies.
